About Us

The Trout Lake Campers Association Sudbury District (TLCA-SD) is committed to building a strong, welcoming community for members and residents of the Trout Lake area. We are a volunteer-led, non-profit organization, incorporated in 2008. For more information on our history, visit our “Our Story” page.

Our mission is to protect and enhance Trout Lake by promoting responsible use and supporting lake stewardship. Through collective stewardship, we strive to keep it safe, thriving, and sustainable for generations to come.

Our vision is a clean and healthy Trout Lake supported by an informed community committed to responsible use and stewardship.

Trout Lake has been designated a “Special Policy Area” under the Greater Sudbury Official Plan, which restricts what future development can occur.  Those protections include the naming of Trout Lake as a protected lake trout producing lake, a special policy area requiring a lake capacity assessment be done prior to any new development, recreational carrying capacity calculations, the new Site Plan Control Bylaw and other requirements in the Trailer Licensing Bylaw. It is anticipated additional requirements will be written into the municipal zoning by-law when it is reviewed in 2 years time.

Why Our Community is Special

Trout Lake is a welcoming community where both summer visitors and permanent cottagers enjoy the natural beauty and year-round accessibility. Whether you’re here for a seasonal retreat or have made the lake your home, the area provides lodging, essential services, and local amenities to support your needs.

Situated near Alban and Noelville, with Sudbury just an hour away, Trout Lake is well-connected while maintaining its peaceful charm. Local businesses offer gas, groceries, building supplies, a farmers market, and even an art gallery, ensuring both short-term guests and longtime residents can find everything they need to make the most of life at the lake.

Outdoor Activities & Recreation

For outdoor enthusiasts, we offer public boat launches, with additional launch options available at the lodges. Whether you’re looking for snowmobiling trails, quad riding, hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Our local snowmobile trails are a must for winter adventurers, while summer brings prime opportunities for boating, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors. No matter the season, our community welcomes you to embrace the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that make this place special.
