Fire Safety in Remote Areas
The Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (FOCA) website offers essential fire safety guidance for cottage owners. It emphasizes the importance of having working smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and escape plans. It also provides information on fire code regulations specific to cottages and resources for preventing fires, such as proper chimney maintenance and safe use of fire pits. The site emphasizes the importance of woodland property owners to be proactive and prepared for fire emergencies, to learn about their property risks, and to take steps to make their families safer.
