Bylaw Review 2025
Keeping Things Clear and Compliant
The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) came into effect in 2021, providing non-profits a three-year window to update their bylaws. To stay compliant, we’re making necessary updates—some required by legislation, others focused on housekeeping items, such as formatting and clarity of wording improvements. Since these updates are necessary, lets make the most of the opportunity to ensure they’re as clear, well-structured, and comprehensive as possible.
With the transition deadline of October 18, 2024 having passed, time is of the essence.
In addition to forming a committee to lead this effort, we have outlined the recommended actions for our organization and set a timeline with clear priorities.
While these updates won’t change how our association operates, they will ensure our governance remains aligned with ONCA’s standards.
Our committee is making use of the many excellent resources available to guide us through this process. To support our work, we’ve developed a structured plan to navigate each step. For more information see: ONCA – Steps to Compliance.
We’ll be seeking member approval at the 2026 AGM, where a two-thirds majority will be needed to finalize these changes. Be sure to check back here regularly for updates on the review process.
Thank you for your continued support!
